Tha Rankings: Tha Carter 3 Pt. 2
Tha Carter 3 Pt. 2 An album doesn’t sell over 1 million records the first week without monster singles and a bit of polish and of course, Tha Carter 3 had both. 6 singles were released for the album, all of them fantastic songs. Features included stars like by T-Pain, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, Bobby V, Robin Thicke, Juelz Santana and Jay-Z. Production featured names like Kanye West, Swizz Beats, David Banner, Alchemist, Bangladesh, and Cool & Dre.

Tha Rankings: Tha Carter 3 Pt. 1
Tha Carter 3 Pt. 1 This is the album that truly sent Lil Wayne into the stratosphere. The hype around the album was massive. Personally, it is the first album I remember being excited about before it released. Until that point, I just found songs on YouTube, Pandora or the radio and downloaded them on LimeWire or used YouTube to mp3 converter to get songs into my library. I would come to know and love albums after release, but never before had I been hyped BEFORE a release.

Tha Carter 2
Disclaimer: This is probably my favorite Lil Wayne album and one of my favorite projects of all time. This album is more than just the sequel, it is truly a version 2.0 of the first Carter. It is an upgrade in flows, individuality, and overall standout moments. The Fly In, Fly Out is the next level up from Walking In and Out. The beat is more pressing than the laid back series from Tha Carter 1 and Wayne raps each almost like a radio freestyle whereas the first he stays true to the idea of describing the walk through Tha Carter.

Tha Carter 1
The first Carter is basically a Mannie Fresh / Lil Wayne collab album with Mannie producing 18⁄21 songs (Although Walk In, Inside and Walk Out are all the same beat, you get the point). There are very few albums from the late 90’s to early 2000’s that DONT suffer from having over 20 tracks and skits galore and if you haven’t listened to the album in a while, the Carter 1 appears to be no exception on a quick glance.

I think it is fair to say there is not a series of albums more successful than the Tha Carter series by Lil Wayne. The series spans 14 years (partly due to the massive number of delays) and 5 full length albums. Not many series of albums have even made it to a fifth installment, let alone demanded attention from the mainstream for each release. With the albums taking place over such a long span of time, the styles, flows, beats, and features are extremely varied.
